Preserve ONE Tree … Keep Mansourieh Green!

Mild Winter, warm Spring, sunny Summer, and colorful Autumn … This is what Mansourieh is all about, a village of all seasons to remember.

Throughout ages, Mansourieh had been covered by hilltops of fine Pine trees, valleys of Olive and Orchards of Lemon Orange trees. Between the past and present, civilization and continuity captured the heart of nature, where Infra Structure overwhelmed the green fields of Olive trees and hilltops of Pine trees.

Located in Mount Lebanon 250-350 meters above sea level and 16 km from Beirut, its distance, history, geology, Roman ruins and nature makes it Lebanon splendid village by excellence, thus leading more inhabitants to occupy its green fields.

Within the past 20 years residences had dramatically increased along with Infra structure development, namely the construction of newly highway, buildings, community centers, banking facilities, shopping malls…whereby trees were cut to actually give way to roads and buildings.
If you walk around the streets of Mansourieh within the newly emerged building zones, you shall rarely find trees to give shade, natural beauty or ecological protection. In such a community, preservation of forestry had lost its meaning.
In fact, architecture is not just a building, it’s the art of nature together with construction or what we consider the preservation of natural trees around.
Unfortunately, some of Mansourieh zone areas such as “Ayloutt” currently reflect an expansion of residential apartments. These landmarks constructed during 1995-1997 with unexceptional quality, have made the area recognized as cohesive with lack of space and delimited buildings.

Research done by James B. Kea indicated that proper placement of trees near our buildings with some space between them to allow their mature growth can help reduce our electric bill.
By shielding 20% or more of our homes with trees or shrubs, we can reduce our electric cooling bill. Our heating bill can also be reduced by proper placement of trees on the Eastern, Western, and Southern sides of our buildings.
In an evolutionary environment, we all want to live in better houses, have better villages, and enjoy a healthy clean atmosphere. That’s why, Trees should not be cut in Mansourieh, rather they should be preserved for a better living.
Do you know what ONE TREE can do around your building?
One Tree makes shade around your house and reduces temperature
One Tree takes Carbon dioxide and produce Oxygen
One Tree reduces sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide
One Tree reduce Ozone, a gas created by smog & high temperature
One Tree can reduce your electric bill
Knowing the importance of trees in our community, the Mansourieh Municipality had initiated a new Implanting Tree Program with the help of Mansourieh Environmental Association to replant Trees on the edge street border basically main roads of the village.
It is everyone’s duty to bring these threads of continuity to light. The land is the property of everyone, and our village is so rich in fertility.
Its is a good idea to plant trees no matter what the decisions are, but the Question to think about: “Is it worth cutting our trees, and then replanting again?”
